BEHIND THE BUILD: EPOXY FLOORS AND WALL FEATURES FOR YAMMER SF

A Downtown Project with Big Visual Impact

Downtown San Francisco brings a unique set of conditions to any construction project—tight access, active surroundings, and schedules that don’t wait. For Canterbury Contractors, the Yammer tenant improvement was a great opportunity to show how the right team can thrive in a high-demand environment.

Working with Skyline Construction, our task was to deliver standout floor and wall finishes for a high-design tech space—on time, and in sync with a busy jobsite.

At the center of our scope was a custom blue epoxy floor system, poured across wide open areas with a precision-cut Yammer logo embedded into the surface—a bold, permanent branding element built right into the workspace.

We also installed crisp wall accents and detail paintwork throughout, defining collaboration areas and adding polish to the modern open-plan layout.

Working Smart in a Challenging City

Every project in San Francisco comes with logistics challenges. The Yammer build was no different. Our teams had to work in shifts to avoid peak traffic and coordinate delivery windows precisely to stay ahead of other trades.

Epoxy systems are sensitive—temperature, moisture, and dust can affect curing and finish. To protect the floor and logo, we installed temporary barriers and maintained controlled access, even as the rest of the site stayed active.

This was a build that rewarded planning, patience, and steady execution.

Branded Floors That Leave a Lasting Impression

The standout feature of this job? That bold, custom Yammer logo set right into the epoxy floor. It’s the kind of finish that looks simple when it’s done—but getting it right takes planning, precision, and a well-trained crew.

We began with CNC-cut templates, based on the brand’s exact specifications. The logo had to sit flush with the surrounding epoxy, with clean edges and no bleed. Once the blue base layer was cured, our team laid in the logo stencil, applied contrasting epoxy, and back-rolled for a seamless finish.

Even though the area was small, the execution had to be perfect—after all, it’s one of the first things people see when they enter the space.

Wall Accents That Complement Open Plans

In addition to floors, Canterbury handled a series of interior paint finishes and wall accents throughout the office. These helped break up the open-plan space and added visual clarity to conference rooms, break areas, and team zones.

Fast-drying coatings and clean tape lines were critical. These weren’t just background surfaces—they were part of a modern brand experience that needed to feel intentional and consistent from floor to ceiling.

To stay on schedule, we sequenced these finishes in parallel with floor work, jumping between zones as they became available from other trades.

TIPS FOR FLOOR LOGOS THAT LAST

  • Always start with a clean, dry, fully cured base

  • Use laser-cut stencils for clean lines

  • Choose high-contrast colors for brand visibility

  • Protect the finish immediately after install to avoid surface damage

How We Met Tight Deadlines Without Sacrificing Detail

Like many tech tenant improvements, the Yammer build had a firm move-in date. That meant every trade needed to deliver their scope—on time and without sacrificing quality.

For Canterbury, that meant staying flexible. When schedules shifted or space access changed, we adjusted. Our crews worked off-hours, pivoted between zones, and made sure epoxy applications and wall finishes stayed on track, even as other trades moved around us.

To protect the Yammer floor logo and other delicate finishes, we installed safeguards during final buildout and maintained active oversight through move-in.

Continued Support After Completion

What made this project stand out wasn’t just how it ended—it’s that we stayed involved after handoff. Canterbury remained on board to support day-two work and maintenance directly with the owner.

That meant:

  • Touching up scuffed finishes after furniture moves

  • Recoating high-traffic epoxy zones

  • Helping the owner’s team preserve the visual quality of the space

Staying connected post-completion gave Yammer peace of mind and helped extend the life of their finishes—especially important for bold design elements like the floor logo.

What Worked for Yammer SF

  • Shift work hours and access strategies for tight downtown job sites

  • CNC-cut templates are a must for floor graphics

  • Use fast-drying paints and staged sequencing to stay ahead

  • Maintain close communication with the GC and adapt on the fly

  • Stay involved post-completion to protect finishes and respond fast

Final Thoughts

The Yammer tenant improvement project shows how detailed finishes—like epoxy floors and branded graphics—can shine even on tight timelines. And by staying involved beyond handoff, Canterbury helped protect the investment for the long haul.
